Biography
PROBABLY THE MOST PHYSICAL VOICE ACTOR AROUND
Corey Marshall is a voice actor best known for being the English voice of the lead character Ryo Hazuki in SEGA's adventure videogame Shenmue, which has garnered an even stronger fan following over the years since its inception.
Born and raised in Texas, he started his performing arts career as a child, doing live theater. At seven, he took up tae kwon do and competed and won on a national level. He was in the process of moving cross-country to train as part of the U.S. Olympic Tae Kwon Do team when he decided that he didn't want to devote his young adult life to nothing else but Tae Kwon Do and opted to stay in Texas.
While living in San Antonio, he attended Robert E. Lee High School 's North East School of the Arts (NESA) and took ballet. He was offered a full scholarship to The Julliard School's Dance Division but decided to attend SUNY-Purchase instead.
It was while he was at SUNY-Purchase that he answered an ad for voiceover actors for a Japanese videogame. After sending in his demo tape, he was brought in a couple times to audition in person, and was then chosen to do the voice of Ryo Hazuki for the international version.
In addition to voiceover work, Corey has also danced professionally, done acting and stuntwork for film, movies and live shows. He has also done behind-the-scenes production work as well.
